Truck Wash Water Recovery Systems

Truck Wash Wastewater needs to be specially treated due to a variety of waste components in the stream that a municipal sewer cannot handle or because the truck wash is not tied into a municipal drain. The wastewater needs to be treated to prevent hauling away 100% of their used water. A Met-Chem wastewater treatment system can help in either case.

Met-Chem can handle Wastewater from washing semi-trucks, concrete mixers, trailer washouts, buses, trains, tractors, heavy duty equipment, and more.

Truck Wash Water Recovery System

A typical Truck Wash will have a Pit or large holding tank that captures the dirty water. If one is currently not in place Met-Chem is happy to incorporate a new holding tank into our new treatment system. Specific treatment steps can be incorporated to fit a specific facilities needs, including:

  • A Coarse Particle Separator for large solids and stones
  • A grease trap for capturing grease from the trucks
  • An oil water separator for removing oil from the waste stream

Lower flow rate system will be treated in a cone bottom tank. This tank will include metering pumps for adding chemistry and a large mixer. For larger flowrates the flow will go through a flocculation chamber for chemical addition and then a lamella clarifier. The lamella clarifier will further separate the solids from the liquid solution. The solution will then be run through a filter press for dewatering. The dried and captured solids can be hauled away. The clean water filtrate can either:

  • Go to the Municipal Drain
  • Be rescued as process/cleaning water
  • Be sent to an evaporator to create a closed loop system

Additional treatment steps may include microfiltrationreverse osmosis (RO), and/or Deionization (DI) can be added to further clean the water for reuse.

Water Recovery Systems and Installation Options

Met-Chem can manufacture a new filter press, clarifier, and filtration system to Recover and Recycle Your Wastewater into fresh reusable water. Each filter press will be designed to your specifications. The manifold and piping can be constructed using, but not limited to CPVC, Carbon Steel, or Stainless Steel. As your business grows, our filter presses can be expanded by adding additional filter plates, reducing the need to purchase new costly equipment.

Filter Press Features

  • Plumbing can be built using PVC, CPVC, carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.
  • Filter Cloths with Your Specified Micron Rating
  • Sizeable and Expandable
  • Air Driven Hydraulic Closing Pump with Pressure Gauge on Automatic Units
  • 2 Stage Hand Pump on Manual Units
  • Heavy Duty Hydraulic Cylinder for Opening and Closing of Press
